Thankful Thursday

Join us for Thankful Thursday with Iris@Grace Alone. She is our host for this month. Link up and share what you are thankful for this day.

I'm thankful for God,friends and family,on and off line. Last weekend God gave me the peace I prayed for and He helped me through the 4 days without my husband. I had family come down to visit and help out. I also had friends on here that prayed for me and my family. I knew it was because of prayer that we had a peaceful time. God is just so wonderful! I wrote more about this at my other blog From My Heart. It's great to know God does care about my every need. He also provided for us. My husband made a good bit of overtime money on this detail, something we have been needing. He is just amazing! Thanks to all for the prayers and kind words!

I am also thankful for cool weather! It has been super nice here. It's in the 70's during the day and the upper 50's at night. Amazing!!! Fall has arrived in the deep South! Coffee,Butterfinger hot chocolate, muffins, cinnamon rolls... ahhhhh! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Tasty Tuesdays

I missed last Tuesday in preperation for my husband to leave for a work detail. I woke up early this morning and took a morning walk with my Aaron. The cool temps made me think of Thanksgiving and Christmas. So I went to a great site I found 2 years ago. I am not a chef by trade. I do love to cook, but have small space and I'm not so confident at trying new things. The year before last I tried my hand at some pies and candy. This is one is not just a holiday dish,so I'll share it. It's called a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Peanut Butter Pie,that is a mouthful huh?

Ingredients:
1 package of cream cheese
1 cup peanut butter
12 ounces Cool Whip
3/4 cup sugar
1 graham cracker crust
10 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

Directions:
Combine the peanut butter, cream cheese and sugar. Add Cool Whip until smooth. Pour half of mixture into crust. Top with 5 crumbled Reese's cups. Cover that with remaining mixture and crumble remaining Resse's Cups on top. Refrigerate overnight.

It is very simple, but OH so delish!!! We loved it! The site is Northole.com . It has lots of stuff on it,but I have only looked at the food part. Link up with us over at Alicia@A Beautiful Mess and share a recipe.

Hide It In Your Heart

At the Well has a wonderful Sunday addition called Hide It In Your Heart. Each Sunday someone will post a scripture for memorization for that following week. I will be joining as much as I can. I may not always post, but I will be memorizing the scripture. I used to be really good at doing this in college, but with marriage comes little ones and it is hard to find the time. So this is something so great for me! Join us and link up so they can remind you and pray for you!

Have a blessed and safe Sunday!

Cherry On Top reward

Melissa@Frugal Creativity gave me this award. Very sweet of her! I haven't known her long, but I am getting to know her better and she is so creative and kind! Check out her blog for sure.

These are the "Cherry on Top" Award rules:
  1. Answer this question:  If you had the chance to go back and change one thing in your life, would you and what would it be?
  2. Pick 6 people and give them this award. You then have to inform the person that they have gotten this award.

Hmm... I would change a lot of things. I would not have dated so much and would have chose not to be so shy at times in general. That is what I can think of now. All the other things, even if they were not the right decision at the time, have molded me into who I am now. God can work through anything if we allow Him too.

  3. Jerralea@Jerralea's Journey

I have so many wonderful blogs I follow and followers of my blog also. Some of these are new ladies I have met and some are long time 'net friends. Check them out! You won't be disappointed. Have a great Saturday!!

Thankful Thursday

It is a gorgeous Thursday here!!! :) Join in over at Iris@Grace Alone for Thankful Thursday. It is always a blessing to join and read others pots.

I am so thankful for God's power! For the blood of Jesus! When all hell is coming against you and you are right with God,all you have to do is plead that blood over yourself and your mind! Demons trembled at the name of Jesus and they can't stand His blood!

I am also so thankful for family! While my husband is away I have some family coming down. Tomorrow my Mama, sister, and her kids are coming to spend the day. Saturday my youngest SIL is coming to stay the night. So we will not be lonely, but will miss Daddy and hubby very much!

A new meme I will be joining is Thankful Thursday With a Twist started by Chelsey@ Chelsey's Journey. So check her out too!!

God is just so amazing! When you are in the midst of anything, don't run from it,charge it head on knowing God is on your side!! What are you thankful for?

Word-Filled Wednesday

Share a verse that encourages, inspires, comforts,or convicts you! Join us @Internet Cafe Devotions for Word-Filled Wednesday.

I love this verse! My husband will be gone for a few days this weekend. So I really needed this verse. It always seems empty without him here and I get frantic at times. With no family in town and being careful who we are friends with, it leaves me home alone with the boys. So it can get hairy! :) I ask for your prayers for peace over myself,my boys, and my husband. He will be on a detail for work. I just want peace and strength to face anything that may come my way. I don't expect anything terrible, but Daniel waking up wanting his Daddy at 3 in the morning is not the best. Especially if he doesn't want to go back to sleep in his own room. Soo just pray I will handle it accordingly and peace will be on us all. Thank you so much! Join us and share some scripture, without or with a picture!

Makeover of the Heart-At the Well

Good morning! I hope everyone is doing great on this Monday! It is week 2 of our study over At the Well. Tracy@Thirsty For Him is leading our study,Makeover of the Heart. Come join us weekly. You can watch the videos and download a study guide. It will bless you and challenge you!

Do you find yourself like Karen – a woman with a “religion,” but not a “relationship” with Jesus? What does “a relationship” mean to you, and how do you think a heart “delights” in the Lord?
How have you struggled with the lie that “you have to perfect to be loved by God?”

This is the questions Tracy asks us today. I can write a little for now,but will come back for more depth.. My little ones need me,but answer and be blessed!

A relationship. Hmm.. to confide,to serve,to love,to cherish,to be honest. Those are just some of my thoughts on relationship.

And on delighting in the Lord. I used to think when I delighted or followed Him,He would give me my desires. After growing closer to Him I learned my desires changed. They became more like His. Yes, I still had desires of my own, mostly selfish, but I had to die to those. As I heard Beth Moore say once, "When you delight in him, He begins to change your desires to His."

Check out the post by Tracy and share your thoughts.

Friday's Fave Five and Voice of the Martyr's

This is another favorite meme of mine. Susanne@Living To Tell The Story is the host. Visit her blog and check out her awesome post.

  1. It was sunny and nice here all week long. The humidity wasn't as bad as it has been. Still waiting on official Fall to come. :)
  2. I got to spend Sunday with my family. It was my Daddy's birthday and my sister's was the following Friday. So we had pizza and my Mama baked a cake for them. It was a lot of fun!
  3. My husband and I got to go out to our favorite hometown joint to eat. Hokie's BBQ,all by ourselves. My parents watched the boys for a little bit and they had a blast with them.
  4. Food Menu. Need I say more? I wasn't a big fan,but now I'm learning to love it! It makes life easier!
  5. It's Friday and tomorrow means COLLEGE FOOTBALL!! :-D Yep,we are some football freaks! Go Auburn Tigers!
Hope your week was grand! Share with us your 5 favorites from the week!

I get weekly updates from Voice of the Martyr's. You will be heartbroken as you read them, but challenged and feel grateful. Here are the updates from today.

CHINA -- Churches Closed, Leaders Threatened -- ChinaAid Association

On Aug. 5 and 6, the Chinese government shut down three house churches in Wuhan, Hubei; Sanmenxia, Henan; and Changsha, Hunan, according to China Aid Association. The churches all belonged to the China Gospel Fellowship, one of the largest networks in China, with an estimated 5-7 million members. The churches were closed after church leaders received invitations to attend the Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization, a 10-day conference to be held next month in Cape Town, South Africa. According to China Aid, the Chinese Public Security Bureau obtained a list of 200 Chinese invitees and threatened some of them not to attend the conference. Thank God for the faithfulness of these Chinese believers, and pray that they will continue to meet with one another for worship. Praise God for the way he continues to grow the church in China despite government restrictions.

IRAN -- Christian Prisoner’s Condition Unknown -- Farsi Christian News Network

Neshan Saeedi, a 27-year–old Christian, has not been seen since his arrest by government authorities in July, according to the Farsi Christian News Network. On July 24, Saeedi was at home with his wife and young daughter in the city of Ahvaz, Iran, when plainclothes security officers entered his house and arrested the family. Security officers searched the home and seized personal belongings, including a computer, CDs containing films of Christian seminars and teachings, Christian books, Bibles and family photo albums. The family was taken to the Chaharshir detention center in Ahvaz, where they were interrogated for several hours before Saeedi's wife and daughter were released. Officers threatened Saeedi’s wife, saying if the family continued its Christian activities their daughter might be taken away. The family was accused of threatening Iran's national security by participating in anti-government activities. They were further accused of being spies of foreign powers and of leading people to a pro-Israel ideology. The house church that Saeedi's family attended has stopped meeting out of fear for their lives and the possibility of further arrests. Government authorities are thought to be actively seeking the arrest of two of the house church leaders. Pray for Neshan Saeedi's physical, mental and spiritual well-being, and ask God to protect his wife, daughter and the other church leaders. Pray that God will grant courage and boldness to Iranian believers.

SOMALIA — Christian Killed, Four Children Kidnapped — Compass Direct News

On July 21, Osman Abdullah Fataho, a member of an underground Christian movement in Somalia, was shot to death by al-Shabab militants in front of his wife and children, according to Compass Direct News. Christians said they think someone told the militants of Osman's faith. According to Compass Direct, the militants entered Osman's house and killed him before abducting his wife and four children. They later released Osman's wife on condition that she surrender her children to be trained as militant soldiers. Please pray for Osman's wife and children as they grieve the loss of their husband and father, and pray that the children will be returned to their mother.

Psalm 91:1–5

Pray for these Christians. I cannot imagine going through something like this. The American church needs to know what is going on with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We need to pray for them without ceasing. Thank you!

Makeover of the Heart-At the Well

I'm excited about our new study over At the Well! It's called Makeover of the Heart:Unlocking the Potential of a Heart Transformed and Tracy Berta will be leading us. Tracy's blog is Thirsty For Him. She is very passionate and inspiring! Join us each week for videos and written words from Tracy. You can print you own guide each week and you can share your thoughts also. The wonderful ladies At the Well have really been a blessing to me and though I don't know them all, I am thankful for the time they take to impart what God shows them to us.

Here are the questions Tracy left on the blog post today:

1. God’s Word says that “when we delight ourselves in Him, He gives us the desires of our heart.”  Have you taken any time to ponder WHAT the desires of your heart are?  What are your dreams?  Aspirations? Hope against all hope?  What are your passions?  There is a wonderful song by Michael W. Smith called “Secret Ambition.”  When I first heard this song, God awakened a desire in me to  bring a woman’s conference to our church for the first time.  He then drew me into a speaking ministry as He called ME to be the speaker at the conference.  I had no idea that this passion was inside me until God awakened it.  Ask God to awaken you to the secret desires of your heart…..the plans He has for you….the dreams He has given you.

2. Make a list of ways you would like to be transformed during this bible study.  How do you want God to change you?  What are your personal goals with this study? What are your personal expectations? Why are you reading this? What do you hope to accomplish?  What are things in your heart that you want God to remove?  What are things you want Him to place in your heart?  How do you see yourself changed at the end of the six weeks?  What drew you to the study in the first place?  What does this “Heart Makeover” mean to YOU?

1. I think we all have a lot of desires of the heart. I know I do. Some of mine are to be the woman, wife, and Mother God wants me to be. I want my marriage to continue to grow in the Lord and my husband and I learn more about one another to better serve one another. I want my boys to come to know the Lord at an early age and begin to live wholly for him at an early age. I want to know God more and learn more about His Word. I would love to have an online ministry one day and minister to young girls and women. I would also love for my family to go to Honduras to minister. I have a heart for out of State missions and want my boys to know what others go through daily and how blessed they are. I want to let others know you may not have what others have, but there is hope,Jesus Christ, He is hope to the nations! That is just some of my desires. I have many more, but will stop there for now.

2. Ahh such a personal question. I want the Holy Spirit to show me the things I cannot see about myself and show me what He wants for me instead. I want to learn to be more patient with myself, family, and just people. I want my heart to be transformed to have God's heart. I want to be more like Jesus and to do that my heart has to be right with God. Yes, I am born again Christian who has an on going relationship with the Lord, but I know there are many things that need to go in my heart. Isn't it so hard? Like Paul said I do the things which I do not want too and I don't do the things that I want too.  I hope to see with God all things are possible and begin letting my faith grow more. So much more, but I'll stop there too!

Don't forget to join us for Makeover of the Heart. Have a blessed day!

We Will Never Forget- 9/11

It's been 9 years since the attack on America's soil. I think it is finally sinking in that is really happened. I had just graduated high school the year. I woke up and turn the t.v. on to see this horrific site of airplanes flying into the World Trade Center Towers. I thought what in the world is going on?!?! Who is doing this?? I really was news ignorant and had no clue about Islamic terrorists. I was dating a guy and I called him immediately to see if he had heard and if he knew anything. It was not even realistic. It was so shocking at the time. I didn't know anyone personally that lived there or worked in the Towers, but it hurt to know so many died by the hand of evil people. We watched some documentaries last night and it was just like wow, this really happened. And it could really happen again. I am thankful for the Firemen,EMT,Policeman, and all others who helped rescue and put their lives on the line. I am so thankful for our Public Servants, whom my husband happens to be one. I will never forget.

Here is a awesome video from God Tube. I don't know how to get the video on my blog,so here is the link: I Was There.

Have a blessed weekend!

No Eye Hath Seen,Nor Ear Hath Heard

These words was brought to me twice today. One was my verse for today in my David Wilkerson verse calender and the other was the verse of the week in my Beth Moore study.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
  I Corinthians 2:9

For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
   Isaiah 64:4

God knows in my (my husband's too) heart I am ready to go back to the country, preferably our hometown. We want to be close to friends and family. It's so hard not being closer to the families with Grandchildren. My husband and I talk about it all the time, but know there is no way we can go right now. It would have to be a God orchestrated thing for it to work. But it is something that is on my heart and I believe God was letting me know and remember if we wait on Him we won't be able to comprehend the things He will do for us. He is such a good and amazing God! He cares enough to let me know He knows our hearts desire. His will may not be for us to go back "home",but it will exceed our wildest dreams! So dream big for God!!

Check out my last post and have a blessed weekend!!

I also posted on my other blog From My Heart,so check it out.

Friday's Fave Five

I love this meme! Join Susanne @ Living To Tell the Story and share 5 favorite things from your week.

  1. We had beautiful weather all week! It wasn't cool as I like it,but it wasn't as hot as it has been. The sun was shining and it was gorgeous! We played outside some and grilled one afternoon.
  2. I got some great pictures of the boys and was able to print them out this morning for our families.
  3. We cleaned out our bedroom and all the closets in the house. I hate clutter and no organization. My husband got right on it with me and helped me clean things out.
  4. I got to make some jewelry last night for my sister's birthday and my niece's birthday. I love to make jewelry and someday hope to start an online shop.
  5. We had 3 wonderful days off with my husband. We had some quality time after the boys were in bed and we got to do our devotion.
We had such a great week! We saw some family and just had fun! I stuck to my food menu and I think I like it. Especially on my husband's work days because I have food planned out and don't have to think okay what can we eat before he leaves. Okay, now I have another blog for ya'll to check out. It is my sweet friends Lynn and Dineen @ Spiritually Unequal Marriage. They have a new meme they are starting and a new broadcast called The Intentional Marriage. So check them out!!! They are two very inspiring and God filled women that I adore!!

Everyone have a safe a blessed weekend!!

Thankful Thursday

Join us for Thankful Thursday and don't forget to check out our hostess Iris @ Grace Alone.

I have so much to be thankful for in my life. I have beautiful boys,a loving husband, and so,so much more! Today, I want to give thanks for my husband. He is really the best man that God could have paired me with. We are SO different, but that is so good. We compliment one another. It's get crazy with kids in the house, but we have been striving to have better attitudes and not have higher expectations that we need for anyone in the home. Our bedroom can easily become overlooked since no one sees it but us. So the other day we cleaned out the corner and he did most of it! That afternoon he grilled and we played outside with the boys. Yesterday morning he let me sleep in until 9! Aaron was up at 6:50 and he gladly took him up front.

That is only some of what he does. He works very hard to provide for us and I am able to stay home with our boys daily. He doesn't complain if the grocery bill is a little more than it should have been,he trusts that I did my best. He doesn't leave his clothes all over the house and he doesn't put dishes with food on them in the sink. :) Even if he did, I couldn't complain. Some women think it is their right to complain, but really it's not. You married that man for a reason, because you love him for better OR for worse. There are many days that I have to repent because I too think to myself  'I never get a day off to just do nothing',but I am his help meet. He provides for us monetarily and spiritually. He is a strong man of God though he has weaknesses. I have many weaknesses too. He is a wonderful Father, stern, but loving. He disciplines the boys at times, when I would let it go. He sees they need it and desire it. I've have 2 kids and I'm not that size 2 anymore, but he loves me anyways. His love is not based on my looks or my body,it is based on me,my heart, and personality. Our marriage is not perfect, but it is a little piece of heaven on earth. We argue sometimes and have disagreements, but we work through them. God made us different for many reasons and we aren't to try to change the other into what we want. That is silly and just not God's will. His will is for us to strive together and to grow together despite our differences. I love my husband, deeper than I did at our dating stage,on the day I married him,and even since a year ago. I still see us as newlyweds and giggle about somethings. He is my beloved!

What are you thankful for? Share with us!

Word-Filled Wednesday

Join us over at the Internet Cafe Devotions for Word-Filled Wednesday. I love this meme! Share a verse from your heart!

This is one of my favorite verses. I learnt these awhile back early in my walk with the Lord. I love the whole passage of scripture.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
   Galatians 5:22-24

Verse 23 is one that really got my attention. There is no law against the fruits of the Spirit. We have laws against murder, adultery, stealing, and other things, but is there a law for being kind? Patient? Joyful? No and there is a good reason. Those are characteristics of God Himself, that He wants us to have. So think on those verses.

Have a blessed day!!

Tasty Tuesdays

I haven't got a really unique recipe this morning, but as I am cooking breakfast-yes I am multi-tasking- I thought I would share what I am cooking: Pancakes. I am sharing the recipe for Blueberry Pancakes. About a month ago my Momma gave me lots of fresh picked blueberries. So we use them for muffins and pancakes. They are so yummy!!

You will need:
pancake mix (I use the Great Value brand)
blueberries
shortening
butter

  1. Pour a cup of pancake mix into a mixing bowl, then add about 2/3 cups of water, and mix together until there are no lumps (If you want it thinner add more water,I like mine semi-thick).
  2. Use a half of cup of blueberries to add to the mix and stir them in really well (I cut each in half and put them in).
  3. Heat your skillet to medium and once heated add half a spoon of shortening to the skillet.
  4. Pour some of your mix into the skillet (I cook small ones and medium sized ones).
  5. Let them turn a light golden brown on each side and then place them on a plate. You can spread butter on them as you like.
We love them with some Maple flavored syrup! Hope you enjoy! Join Alicia @ A Beautiful Mess for more recipes!

A Simple Woman's Day Book

FOR TODAY
Outside my window... the sun is peaking through the trees and people are hurrying off to work.
I am thinking... a walk would be nice and enjoying this day with my boys, since my husband has to work.
I am thankful for... my hard working husband. He works hard at his job as a State Trooper. It brings lots of stress, but he works and provides for us.
From the kitchen... we are going to have cereal for breakfast and Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo pasta for lunch.
I am wearing... my night gown still, just woke up about 30 minutes ago.
I am creating... a food menu each week, something new I am trying.
I am going... to town later for a few things and a walk after I am done writing this.
I am reading... Good and Angry and AFA Journal magazine
I am hoping... today is good, peaceful, and drama free. I want to relax with my boys.
I am hearing... nothing, isn't that great? :) My Daniel and hubby are still asleep and Aaron is quietly playing.
Around the house... I need to make up the beds, put bottles in the sink, and get our breakfast out to eat.
One of my favorite things... is this weather! This past weekend it was in the low 60's after midnight and during the day it wasn't so hot. I know I talk about weather a lot,but I love fall!!
A few plans for the rest of the week: cleaning out a corner in our bedroom, spend time outside, and may go see some family.
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

My husband and I after we had been married 4 months and we were expecting our first child here, but we didn't know it yet! We looked so young! :)

Hope everyone has a great day!! Join Peggy @ A Simple Woman's Daybook.

Five Question Friday and Friday's Fave Five

This is a day late, but I still wanted to do it. :) I had the honor to go to A Night To Honor Israel on Thursday night. There were several guest speakers, one being Pastor John Hagee, whom we like a lot. So I was gone all day yesterday visiting my family since we were in town.

Join Susanne @ Living To Tell the Story for Friday's Fave Five.

  1. The temps have definitely been cooler and we are fore-casted to have temps in the high 60's tonight! Woo-hoo!
  2. I got to be a part of A Night To Honor Israel on Thursday night. Pastor John Hagee,Walid Shoebat, and Ofer Averan were the key speakers. It was really great!! It opened my eyes to how important supporting and praying for Israel really is.
  3. I was able to spend the whole day yesterday with my family-Mama,Daddy,Sister,her kids, brother, and his kids. It was a great day!
  4. College football has officially started here in the South! YAY!!!!! Go Auburn and Ole Miss!
  5. Tomorrow it is church day and I'm just excited!!

Join us for Five Question Friday!

1. What do you do when you have time to yourself? I either read, write,or get on the internet. I don't get much time to myself so yeah! When I do I take advantage!

2. When you look out your kitchen window, what do you see? Well, I live in an apartment and have no window to look out. Sad,I know. If I had one, I would want to see lots of trees,a pond, and kids playing.

3. Who/What would you want to be reincarnated as? I don't believe in it and don't entertain the thought. :)

4. What is your biggest pet peeve about other people's kids? Asking questions that you shouldn't ask. When we were kids you didn't speak unless spoken too,but that sure ain't the case today!

5. Regular or Diet soda? Regular when I drink it. Water has been my friend for awhile and has helped me loose 20 lbs!!

Thankful Thursday

Good Morning! I hope all have had a wonderful week! It started out raining here, but now it is sunny and beautiful! I love nature and outdoors! I'm thankful for seasons today. We have Summer,Fall,Winter, and Spring. Isn't it amazing what happens in each one? In the Summer then sun warms us and we can enjoy hot summer nights. In the Fall the leaves begin to change to beautiful shades of red, orange, and yellow. We also enjoy cool nights and just gorgeous days. In the Winter cities and countrysides are blanketed with snow and we celebrate our Lord's birth. In the Spring we see everything bloom and blossom again making for beautiful pictures. We also celebrate our Lord's coming back from the dead. With each important things happen and each have a purpose. I favor Fall and Winter over the other two. It is just amazing how God can do all this with the nature and take care of all of us too. He is just amazing! Take a look around next time you are out and see the neat and intricate details our His creation.

What are you thankful for? Join us for Thankful Thursday. This month Iris @ Grace Alone is our host. She has beautiful insights for us,so don't forget to check out her post.
