Thankful Thursday-Memorial Day

Wow, it has been awhile since I have been able to participate! Our computer is now in our bedroom, since Daniel moved into his room. Aaron sleeps in our room during the day,so that leaves little time to use the computer. I miss writing, but it is only for a time,it shall pass too! Laurie @ Women Taking A Stand is our host for Thankful Thursday this month. Her post is remembering the reason for our 3 day weekend,Memorial Day. She is a blessing and an inspiration,so check her out!

I am thankful for those who put their life on the line to keep our freedoms for us in the USA. It can be so easy to take those freedoms fore-granted,but we have to stay in reality and know men and women go to war each day to keep us free. They leave their family, friends, and luxuries to go see horrible things take place. I cannot imagine a day in their shoes. The least I can do is say thank you and pray for them all. Like Laurie said it is easy to forget through the hustle and bustle, but I am going to make it a point to set aside time this coming Monday to honor them in pray and a moment of silence. They do what I am not willing to do on a large scale. You never know what a simple thank you can do to someone.

I am also thankful for our Jesus who had the ultimate sacrifice for freedom when he laid his life down on the cross and in the grave! Praise God for his service to the whole world!! When he defeated death on the third day and rose again our freedom was sealed, all we have to do is accept it! We can be chained physically, but can be free spiritually through Christ! Men can take our physical freedom, but they aren't able to take it spiritually. I often think of Corrie Ten Boom and her family during WWII. Corrie and her sister Betsy were in 2 horrible concentration camps and in spite of that they remained spiritually free. We should thank God everyday for our freedom in Christ!!

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  Romans 8:35-39

Thankful Thursday- Mothers

Welcome to Thankful Thursday! I have missed the past couple of weeks, but glad to be back today! Don't forget to check out Laurie @ Women Taking A Stand, for she is the host this month. She always has encouraging and wise posts that bless me.

I am thankful for Mothers today! Since Mother's Day is coming up on Sunday I wanted to have a post dedicated to Mothers. Being a Mother surely is not easy. I wasn't sure how motherhood would be once I got pregnant with my first son. I had a lot of expectations and thoughts, but a lot of those changed once I became a Mother in the flesh. I hope and pray I am growing as a young Mother. I hope and pray I am setting the example for my boys God wants me too. I'm only 2 years into this thing and I am learning so much. I sit sometimes and really cannot believe I am a Mother of 2 boys! It is amazing and scary at the same time! God had entrusted me with 2 of His own to care and nurture for. Wow. He surely must have a lot of faith in me and I can't do it without His guidance and the Holy Spirit.

To all you Mother's that truly seek out God's will for you as a Mother and for your children, I bless you today! God has called you into something bigger than you can imagine. It is tiring and hard. It is joyous and heartbreaking. It is life. We have the privilege to impart God's Word into these little souls that God may call them by His Spirit for eternal salvation and thus the furtherance of His kingdom! I love this phrase, Blessed is she among women, that you are today and everyday! We are helping to mold and raise His generation. He wants them to love Him,seek Him,and live for Him! The task seems very much, but I am learning with God I can do it. I can be a Godly Mother to my boys and show them what type of woman to look for in their future wife. I am thankful that I am a Mother today.

I am also thankful for my Mother. She is not a very strong woman physically, but oh is she strong in the Spirit! She has raised 3 wonderful children and is helping to raise all her Grandbabies. She set an example for us as little girls how to be a Godly Mother and wife for our husbands. She also set an example for my Daddy and it led him to the cross of Christ! She works hard physically and spiritually to help maintain her home and many other homes! Thank your Mother for all she has done. Even if she wasn't the Godly Mother and she isn't, you can be an example to her.

For those who are not Mother's yet and long to be. You are a Mother to someone, even if it isn't biological. So never forget that! God honors the sacrifices you make for children that aren't even yours. You are a Mother in His eyes today! I pray you all have a wonderful Mother's Day and Thursday!!

Join us for Thankful Thursday's and check out Laurie @ Women Taking A Stand. God Bless!

What kind of child do you want?

Yesterday Jess wrote an amazing post At the Well! I was very encouraged by it and saw things differently than I have been. She wrote a post about looking at our children in the future tense and raising them with that in mind. Here are some of my thoughts on that subject.

I want my boys to be responsible and wise adults. I want them to be self disciplined as well. Right now it can be tiring trying to teach them those things, but it is well worth it. Instead of me picking up the toys every time, I get Daniel to help me. I want him to know to help clean up when he is married one day and his wife is unable too or just to help out. We also don't let Daniel indulge in candy or sweets as much as we were allowed. I think this is helping to teach him that sweets are okay, but it isn't okay to over eat on them or anything else to the point of gluttony. It is hard sometimes not to let him get everything he wants or do everything he wants too,but I know that is also teaching him self control. Life will not always give us what we want and for that matter neither will God. I want him to learn that now and I believe he will remember it throughout life. I think that if we teach him obedience now to us and essentially God it will help him throughout life. Children remember more than we think and the Word says to train them as they are children. Does that mean he will be perfect? No,but he will know what obedience is and how is is pleasing to the Lord. It is very hard disciplining now,but I pray it reaps spiritual benefits as well as physical. I am taking it one day at a time and also trying to see how my parenting can and will affect the future.

Have a blessed week! Don't forget to check out At the Well daily for awesome insights from awesome women!
