Tasty Tuesdays

Join in today for Tasty Tuesdays with Alicia @ A Beautiful Mess. There are some great recipes everyone shares.

Fried Pork Chops and Home-Made Gravy

What you will need:
pork chops
flour
chicken flavored bullion cubes
olive oil (or vegetable)
2/3 cup of water (or less depends on how much gravy you want)
spatula

  1. Fill a medium mixing bowl half full of flour. I usually sprinkle salt and pepper in the flour three or four times and stir it.
  2. Run the pork chop under some water and give it a shake. It should be damp so the flour will stick to it.
  3. Next, put the chop in the flour and make sure both sides are coated with the flour.
  4. Do step 3 about 3 times and then lay them aside.
  5. Heat your frying pan up to about medium heat and get your olive oil out.
  6. Once the pan is heated, pour some olive oil in the pan, just enough to cover the bottom.
  7. Place the pork chops in the pan and let each side brown to your liking (Before you flip them over, put a little more olive oil in the pan or the chop will stick and you will not have a breaded pork chop on one side).
  8. Once all the chops are done, leave the heat at medium.
  9. Have 2/3 cup of water ready and put about 3 scoops of flour in the pan.
  10. Then pour the water in right after you put the flour in.
  11. Next, throw in about 2-3 chicken bullion cubes in the pan.
  12. Use your spatula to stir and make sure the flour doesn't clump.
  13. Keep the heat on high and the gravy should start to thicken (get is as thick as you would like).
Sorry the instructions are mine lol so they aren't so greatly worded. It took me forever to get this one down. I finally got it about a year ago. My Mother-in-law does it and hers is so good. It's my husband's favorite to eat! Hope you enjoy!!

The Simple Woman's Daybook & New Bible Study

FOR TODAY
Outside my window... the skies are overcast, but it's pretty. It's fore-casted to rain more today.

I am thinking... about the arrival of fall! I hope it is soon!; things I need to do this afternoon.

I am thankful for... my life God has blessed me with.  My husband is my love and the boys are my heartbeat.

From the kitchen... we had baked chicken fritters, yellow rice, corn, and bread for lunch. Need something sweet now. :)

I am wearing... a t-shirt Mike got me a year ago for Mother's Day,sweat capri pants, and no shoes.

I am creating... nothing as of now. Besides Aaron's one year album, which I have yet to even put a dent in.

I am going... grocery shopping Wednesday. I have a love/hate relationship with the stores lol

I am reading... several books- Good and Angry(a book about letting our anger reveal the problem and not act on the anger, really great),Sister Freaks(by Rebecca St. James,it's great too!),and another book for debate purposes.

I am hoping... I can get clothes washed, dried, folded, and put away today!!

I am hearing... Daniel run through the hall with his bus and Aaron grunting and playing at my feet.

Around the house... there are dishes to be put in the wash, laundry to be done, and baths to be given.

One of my favorite things... is coffee. Oh how I love it! I have to get some French Vanilla creamer and I will be set!

A few plans for the rest of the week: grocery shopping Wednesday, taking morning walks, going to church, and did I say laundry? lol

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

The Mobile sky one afternoon. I love how the clouds look in this picture.

Friday's Fave Five & Five Question Friday

I wanted to join in on this meme today. Looks like a good one! :) Join Susanne @ Living To Tell the Story for Friday's Fave Five. Recall 5 favorites from the week and be blessed!

  1. I have been able to get back to my Beth Moore study this week. It's been a blessing and I can see how God is helping me in many ways to see things I need to let go of and embrace.
  2. We have been outside a good bit since the temps have cooled down. We love the outdoors and have been walking and playing!
  3. I had a date last Saturday with my hubby and it was the best!
  4. The boys have been sleeping great this week, which means Mama sleeps great! Ahh my wonderful sleep!
  5. I think I am beginning to smell just a bit of fall in the air and boy it makes me happy!!

I am also going to do 5 Question Friday.

Join in at My Little Life for Five Question Friday.

1. How many pets do you have? No pets here. If we didn't live in an apartment we would want t dog. We would want a German Shepard and a Chocolate Lab.

2. If you could switch places with anyone in the world for one day, who would it be? Hmm... my husband. I would love to really know what his job is like for a day. He is a State Trooper and loves it! It's dangerous and exciting he says!! :)

3. What is your favorite money saving tip? Wow hmm.. make a grocery list every time and stick to it! Do not buy things that are not on it. Also, don't buy what you cannot pay for in cash(even if you use a card make sure the money is in the bank).

4. What do you want your kids to be when they grow up? Hmm.. I would love for them to be missionaries, but I pray whatever they choose to do that they will live for God,be His light in their job,and seek to be more like Jesus each day.

5. What is your favorite quote? This is a hard one. I think it will have to be one by Corrie ten Boom: Happiness is determined by circumstances, but joy is not changed by anything. (can't remember the exact wording, but that is the jest of it)

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday! I pray everyone has been having a great week! I have and pray it continues. Visit Laurie @ Women Taking A Stand today, she is our hostess this month for Thankful Thursday. She always blesses me with her writings.

Today I am thankful for the Holy Spirit. I have been doing a study by Beth Moore called Breaking Free. To me it's one of her more personal ones. It is about making liberty in Christ a reality in life. I did it once years ago,but felt the need to do it again. This weeks thoughts have been on generational sins and rebuilding ancient ruins. She does it in a way where you aren't having to blame or criticize your family too, which I like. As she kept asking the question,'What sin do you see in your life that you think is just a part of you?' At first I couldn't think of one and she said it you may not recognize it because it is a learned habit. It's a part of who you are and you may think that is just how you are made. By Tuesday I had pin pointed one that I thought was appropriate. The silent treatment. I don't get sassy with my husband and I don't raise my voice, but I do get silent and maybe close things harder than I would if I wasn't mad. The Holy Spirit convicted me of that and it's just as much as not being submissive and angry as using verbal words. Thank God for the Holy Spirit! It is not always comfortable when he shows you something about yourself and it is not always convenient, but it is always true. God loves me enough to not leave me as I am,but to want to transform me into His likeness! Glory to Him!

What are you thankful for today? Everyone has something!! Be blessed!!

Word Filled Wednesday

Share a scripture from your heart! Join us for Word-Filled Wednesday.

I take this verse literal. In what I watch. In what I listen too. In whom I hang around. In what I say and what I do. Our whole purpose on this earth is to glorify God. Have a great day!

Our Date and Touring Beavior

Last Saturday my husband and I had a date. We are trying to make them monthly. :) We dropped the boys off at his parents and headed to the coast of Mississippi. We had no clue what we wanted to do,until we passed a Beauvorr sign and ding ding! We wanted to go tour Beauvoir, the home of Jefferson Davis. I took a good bit of pictures and wanted to share them. We had a great time! We ate at Logan's Roadhouse, went to some outlet malls, and finished the date with dipping dots,my fave!! It was a great day!! I love my husband and spending time with him. So here are some pictures.

The State Flag,American Flag, and the Confederate Flag flying out in front of Beauvoir.

Beautiful beach view. This is the Gulf of Mexico in Biloxi,MS.

A view from the porch of Beauvoir.

Beauvoir, French for Beautiful View.

Jefferson Davis statue.

Welcome!

Biloxi,MS

I look so small compared to the home!

It's so pretty, but it was VERY hot!

My love, waiting for the tour to start.

My husband and me on the back porch. It was a great tour!

The entrance of Beauvoir.

So pretty! He had a wonderful view!

Going on the rest of the tour, Beauvoir from the back. Hollie, this is the picture I sent you.

Oyster Bayou and waterfalls-mini by the way! :)

My husband likes pictures of me. :)

Going to the cemetery.

I love the moss on the trees,so pretty!

The Confederate Cemetery from far off.

There were rows and rows of head stones.

Not sure if this was a grave or not. I love that old flag!

Head stones that were destroyed during Hurricane Katrina.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Very sad.

Mike and me. He is so handsome! :)

Great quote!

We spotted a squirrel on the way out.

The terrace on the grounds near the home.

The Hayes Cottage, where people actually can stay.

More terrace

Jefferson and 2 of his boys that The National Sons of Confederate Veterans gave to the estate.

This was at Mike's parents with Daniel. He had fun,but he missed us!

We hardly ever get pictures like we used too since we don't have someone near all the time.

Great picture!! :)

I got my hair cut last Tuesday and she did good. She fixed it also, this was that afternoon.

I love how she did it. She used a roll brush and a hair dryer.

We had a great time! We learned a lot about Jefferson Davis. Mike knew a lot already. We take pride in our heritage. We are both history buffs and love anything about the Civil War.

Okay, now back to regularly schedule blogging! :)
